EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts is going on right now, and while we are working on a review of our favorite festival, we figured you would like an adventure today with Figment’s Brush with the Masters. This is a scavenger hunt, much like the Eggstravaganza EPCOT does in the spring, but a lot better!
To start this adventure, you need to purchase a map from one of the many stores that sell the map. The map picture below is $9.99. However, it is eligible for an Annual Passholder discount, so score! We purchased ours from Gateway Gifts underneath Spaceship Earth.
The idea of this hunt is for you to explore the World Showcase and look for pieces of art that Figment decided to enhance. You then place the corresponding sticker over that country until you find them all. After that, you can return the completed map to one of the many stores, and claim a prize. The next section will take you through the World Showcase, and also provide the locations, so consider this a spoiler warning.
Figment’s Brush with the Masters: The Answers
Once again this section is all spoilers. We will go in the order of left country which is Mexico, and work our way around to the last country Canada.
Mexico: The location of this art piece can be a little tricky. Also, it originally wasn’t the first one we tried to find. We wandered around every crevice of Canada looking for that piece, and then our Guardians of the Galaxy Virtual Group was called, and we gave up. While waiting in line for Guardians, we went over in our minds where we didn’t look, and we decided these must be inside the shops as that was the only place we didn’t check in Canada.
After our Guardians ride, we headed to Mexico, went into the pyramid, and checked out spots along the way. Not only did we not know how big these were, but also we needed to figure out where they might be. Finally, inside the shop, inside the pyramid, and above the register was Figment’s masterpiece. I’ll admit I do not recognize this piece, but the idea is an artist added Figment to these pieces. This one is far away for my cellphone camera to capture.
Norway: Next stop is Norway, and having our confidence built up by finding the Mexico one, we felt these should get easier as we go. Entering Norway we decided to take a hard left and check out the photo-op area named, The Wandering Reindeer, and what do you know Figment was spotted right away in there!
At first glance, you may not see a figment in the painting below, but he is seen as a troll, which is a common theme in the Norway pavilion! That sneaky Figment.
China: Third country on the list is China. Approaching the pavilion we hopped into the store in the front of the pavilion next to World Showcase lagoon, and did not find the art piece. We then decide to go to the back of the pavilion and start in the big shop, however we never made it inside. Spotted on the right near the back, and outside, albeit covered was China’s version of a Figment inspired piece of art!
Germany: Next stop is Germany. When we entered Germany, we stepped into the first store on our left and worked our way around until we found a huge painting inside the store next to the outside Biergarten spot on the right. This one is huge and obvious!
Italy: Onto Italy, which is a big pavilion to explore. For whatever reason, we decided to go into the first store on the right, “La Bottega Italiana,” and boom, we found him behind the register. He is the new Mona Lisa! This Figment is such a ham!
America: Halfway through our journey around World Showcase, this brings us to The American Adventure. Our instincts told us to head to the art store first bypassing other potential spots. Our instincts paid off as Figment was spotted crossing the Delaware River with General Washington!
Japan: At this point, we were in a good rhythm for finding these masterpieces with Figment. In the case of Japan, it was straightforward as it was in the store but more towards the back. Figment can be seen paddling on the famous painting from Japan, “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” I am hoping he can paddle fast!
Morocco: Here is where the hunt got real. The Morocco pavilion has so many hidden crevices and doorways to look in that this was the hardest one to find. It took us three complete loops and an extraordinary hint from a Disney cast member (CM) to find it. The hint was to go for a sip of Sangria! Even with the hint, this painting took some work to spot. We eventually found our way up high and celebrated with Sangria! We also thanked the CM afterward and showed her our drinks, she laughed.
France: With three pavilions to go France is next on the list, and we entered the shops one by one looking for Figment. This one eluded us, although not as long as the Morocco painting did. We eventually stumbled upon it sitting in a window on the Ratatouille-facing side of the store, “Plume et Palette.” This dude is sneaky!
United Kingdom: Onto the UK. Now for all intense purposes, this one should have been harder to spot. However, my eyes caught Figment in “The Toy Soldier” shop. I just turned the corner, and there he was!
Canada: Last but not least is Canada, where we failed earlier. This time we were determined to find this thing; however, we also knew we had yet to venture into the stores earlier in the day. Well, wouldn’t you know it, the painting was above the soda refrigerator in the store.
Conclusion on Figment’s Brush with the Masters
Well, there you have it. We completed our map and placed the stickers in their proper locations. Now for us to go turn in our reward. The reward is a choice between one of four pieces of art you can paint yourself. The characters to choose from are Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and of course, Figment. We decided Figment, although it did take two stores to find him as he is pretty popular.
What are your thoughts on this activity? Is it worth the $9.99? We think so. Will you be trying this? Let us know in the comments! Also be on the lookout soon for our review of the Festival overall. You can even checkout our preview here.
