Festival of the Arts is quite a unique event versus the other three EPCOT events in that you get a great mix of food, entertainment, theming, and art! To that point, our favorite aspect of this event is interacting with the artists. We could be biased as we have a talented artist in the house, but we like interacting with people in their crafts and asking questions about pieces they made or their style while creating pieces. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel when we post our VLOG about this event. We interviewed Ann Shen and Tim Rogerson, both phenomenal people so be sure to subscribe and check those out!

As with any festival, there is an abundance of food to sample, and we made a few loops around the World Showcase to revisit some of our favorites as well as explore new options. Below, you’ll find several menus we captured in photos, along with our impressions of the food we enjoyed, which ultimately consisted of offerings from just one food booth, as many selections were similar or the lines were prohibitively long. A useful tip to avoid crowds is to avoid the festival’s opening day and Saturdays, if possible.

We decided to try out El Artista Hambriento, AKA Mexico. This is the food booth is located in the Mexico area of the World Showcase. We are happy to report that these items were all great-tasting and highly recommended! Description and reviews below.

  • Chile Relleno Taco: Pictured above on the right. Flour tortilla filled with seared beef tenderloin, poblano pepper, black beans, and salsa roja (New) This item had a really good beef taste to it with a bit of a kick, don’t worry not too hot!
  • Tostada de Cangrejo: Pictured above on the left. Crispy corn tortilla topped with guacamole, lump crab, mango, crispy onions, and hot sauce (New) This item is a standout item for us. It was prepared on a really fresh tortilla and the crab really came through on the taste with a bit of a kick as well, don’t worry not too hot/
  • Pear-fect Margarita: Pictured above in the center. Calenda Mezcal Joven, prickly pear purée, passion fruit purée, and LeJay Crème de Cassis with a potpourri salt rim (New). This drink is mezcal-forward, with some tartness. The balance was great, but it will cost you coming in at $16.95 each

Next stop is Goshiki, “Japan”, and we really wanted the Masu sake, which we had them personalize to say DisneyKindaLife in Japanese! This is a really cool keepsake. Descriptions and thoughts below.

Food Items:

  • Taiyaki: Pictured above on the right Crisp, flaky fish-shaped chocolate-flavored pastry filled with custard and served with whipped topping (New) This pastry is very flaky chocolate pastry with a nice warm custard in the middle. It sort of reminded me of a Boston cream doughnut but a little bit better.
  • Wagyu Bun: Pictured above on the left. Steamed bun filled with sweet-and-savory minced American wagyu beef (New). This one surprised me with some great tasting beef, almost buttery; however, I wish there was more in there!
  • Masu Sake is served in a traditional personalized wooden cup. The coolness factor of this one is worth the price of admission. They will write your name in Japanese, and it comes with Sake!
Festival of the Arts Vibrante & Vívido

  • Chorizo and Potato Empanada pictured on the right with turmeric aïoli and annatto aïoli Highly recommended by DisneyKindaLife
  • Spicy Ajiaco Soup pictured on the left above with guajillo and árbol chili-spiced chicken, potato, avocado, corn, and crème fraîche. This dish hits perfectly when it is cold during the Festival of the Arts! A little spice, which is nice, and good portions of food within it. Love the chicken in this one!
Deco Delights
Deco Delights

Next up is one item from the Deco Delights food booth. The one item offered here is  Sparkling Spectacle Gâteau: Vanilla bean mousse with a golden caramel center and apricot jam on a hazelnut cookie (New). While the caramel tastes very good, we wanted more of it, and the vanilla mousse is just a bit plain.

BBQ Chicken Pizza
BBQ Chicken Pizza

Over at connections we decided to try out their special pizza slice.

BBQ Chicken Pizza: Two slices of freshly baked pizza topped with smoked chicken, sweet barbecue sauce, cheese blend, peppers, and red onions (New) This was recommended by our friends otherwise we wouldn’t have tried it and I am glad we did it is great! Also, we have mentioned this before but these slices at connections are a decent deal price wise as theme park food is concerned. Which reminds me I need to update our Connections review article!

Figment Cake
Figment Cake

Last but certainly not least is the Figment Fantasy Cake: Sponge cake filled with strawberry whipped cream. and will cause everyone to buy it, but how does it taste? It tastes like plain old cake. Really nothing special, but hey, the photos alone are worth it.

Conclusion & Final Thoughts

Festival of the Arts

As we head out of the festival article we want to emphasize on the activities that are available to everyone at the Arts festival. There is chalk art both professional and amateur meaning you can join in. There is the Disney on Broadway series which we will showcase on our YouTube channel (so be sure to subscribe there) All of this happens in the middle of EPCOT which is already a legendary theme park in itself!

  1. Kevin, you are spot on with your top picks! But did you try the key lime and flourless chocolate torte because those were my top 2 desserts? That beautiful, artsy Figment cake was not good, but it certainly was gorgeous!

    1. We absolutely loved the old version of the deconstructed key lime pie and have it on our list to try this year. With only two of us, we ran out of stomach room! HAHA, I will have to mark down the chocolate torte to look into as well!

  2. Nice review…I usually go see Bret Iwan when he’s there artist and voice of micky mouse
