Random Thoughts on Tokyo Disneyland
Consider this next section our review of Tokyo Disneyland, or more so, some of our random thoughts on the resort. The first thing we want to get out of the way is the language barrier that might keep you away from Tokyo. Yes, the attractions and cast members all speak Japanese, we will tell you it does not take away from the fun at all. If you are a Disney park enthusiast, you already get what they say and even the attractions themselves.
Tokyo Disneyland is like Disneyland Anaheim but a little bigger and more spread out. The park is exceptionally clean, just like Japan is overall. The Castle is big and based on Cinderella, like Magic Kingdom. Tomorrowland is far superior here than in both Disneyland Anaheim and Magic Kingdom, to the point the American Disney Parks division should take note.
There are enough differences at Tokyo Disneyland to consider a trip if you love Disney parks. Also, it will be the only place in the world to have the original Splash Mountain intact. One thing you will notice is how immaculate the park is kept.
Also, if you want to make a list of the attractions you should not miss, here is a start, Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Monsters Inc Ride and Go Seek, Splash Mountain, The Happy Ride with Baymax (if the wait is short), The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents. These are unique to Tokyo Disneyland, and you want to make sure to go on them.
Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast is their newest and most fantastic offering. You can build your daily strategy around getting on this dark-ride attraction. Most people will tell you to rush it in the morning, but we’d like to tell you to purchase Tokyo Disneyland premiere access (Tokyo’s version of the individual lightning lane). At the time of our visit, this was $12.95 per person and well worth it.
The attraction can carry a 2-3 hour wait on some days, and you want to avoid cutting into your theme park days with that wait. On the other hand, you can go with our approach and wait in line towards the end of the night if you see it getting short. Just to let you know, they will cut the line at night if it is too long, so plan accordingly. The main point is do not miss this attraction.
