As mentioned in our preview article, the TRON Lightcycle /Run entrance has a little kiosk off to the side. We had the chance to try out all of the offerings, a welcome site in Tomorrowland. However, not all of these are out of this world either. Below is a picture of all of them together, and below is each of them with our thoughts; let’s dig in, shall we?

As you can see from the picture above, we have sweet and savory well represented. We ate them in proper order, so we will also list them that way, from main course to dessert! Although my mom would tell me to start with dessert, she may have been right here! Going into this meal, which is more of a snack, we were looking forward to the Buffalo Chicken Digital Dumplings, let’s see if it was our favorite, shall we?

Beef and Broccoli Digital Dumpling

Right away, you can smell how good this one is. The presentation is what you would expect from any EPCOT snack location, which is a biodegradable bowl. There were three dumplings inside, sitting in a broth of some sort. These dumplings were delicious! We were shocked at how good they were. My only gripe is the meat in the middle comes right out of the dumpling skin, that is a term, right? Just the right amount of all the ingredients really paid off for this one.

This leads us to the Buffalo Chicken Digital Dumplings, or the blue cheese with a side of dumplings. This dish was a letdown as it was overboard and covered with dehydrated blue cheese. Now I like blue cheese, but I wanted more buffalo chicken taste. There were three dumplings again, so not bad for the price maybe next time less blue cheese!

Strawberry IceOform

Onto dessert which started with the Strawberry IceOform. We weren’t really sure what to make of this one. It reminded us of a deconstructed meal you would find at EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts. The broken mochi shell was interesting, and we weren’t too sure what to make of the cheesecake foam. While it was good, it also wasn’t mind blowing.

Chocolate Cake Donut Holes

Unfairly we love donuts, so we already knew what to expect here. Also, unfairly these are just chocolate cake donut holes on top of mocha sauce. Are they good? Yes, they are, and we could see ourselves getting them again since Magic Kingdom’s donut game could be better. Plus, we are fans of smaller-portioned foods anyways, so we suggest these!

There are two unique offerings when it comes to drinks and, of course, the regular Coke offerings in the TRON area. I am a coffee snob, and we all know it, so that means when it comes to Joffrey’s I am rarely impressed. That trend continues as this underwhelming offering is just Joffrey’s cold brew, and I didn’t even notice the mocha milk taste. However the Watermelon Refresher was, well refreshing. This will probably be very popular and that should probably expand on the menu and make it glow for the evenings.

Final Thoughts on Energy Bytes

This is an excellent little eatery for a little snack kiosk in the front of the TRON area. The options are unique, which is excellent, and we can only hope they find a way to expand the menu. Also, we wish a seating area was nearby, or at least a standing tables. That would make it feel more like a place to eat. We carried ours over to tables in Tomorrowland. What did you think? Will you try these before, or after entering the grid? Let us know in the comments.
