Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Returns to Disney World!

We are a bit late to this news, but we had family in town and had to show off our Disney World expertise to them. How cool is this news though? Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) is coming back! This was part of Disney’s “Halfway to the Holiday’s” promo they ran last week.

We are huge fans of MVMCP. This is our first year living here, and being able to attend more frequently. Before this we had to fly across country to attend a handful of them. Our last time was in 2017, so we are excited to be able to drive over now and enjoy this awesome event. We will dive into the juicy details from Disney themselves and offer some insights from our various years of attending. Keep in mind this event hasn’t run in 2 years so all bets are off as to how it may be this year.

From Disney’s website:

Believe it or not, it takes 12 months to prepare for the holiday season at Walt Disney World Resort! As the year cycles through springtime showers, summer barbeques, and autumn harvests, cast members are also busy planning for the most wonderful time of the year at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” In celebration of #HalfwayToTheHolidays, here’s a sneak peek of all things holly and jolly coming to Walt Disney World this year, including the return of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom Park.

Holiday joy will unfold at Magic Kingdom as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns this year! On 24 select nights, Nov. 8 – Dec. 22, 2022, this separately ticketed event will invite guests to Magic Kingdom for an evening of merriment.

Jack Skellington!
  • Join Mickey and his pals at the Cinderella Castle stage for the ultimate must-watch Christmas extravaganza – “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration.” The show features nostalgic and modern medleys of holiday music paired with dance performances.
  • Minnie Mouse orchestrates a sparkling spectacle over Magic Kingdom as a part of “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks.” Full of holiday magic, the show includes dazzling castle projections, fireworks and seasonal songs.
  • With his famous flying reindeer leading the way, Santa Claus will join Mickey Mouse and friends in the must-see “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade” as it makes its way through the park.
  • Speaking of Santa Claus, he isn’t the only one who likes cookies during the holidays. Partygoers can indulge in complimentary cookies and hot cocoa at locations throughout Magic Kingdom.
  • Magic Kingdom attractions will get a special dose of yuletide cheer. Holiday magic will once again transform the Jungle Cruise into the Jingle Cruise. And, as an exclusive treat for event attendees, Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor and Mad Tea Party will all receive a special holiday makeover.
  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café becomes the coolest place to get down when denizens of the North Pole drop by for an intergalactic dance party!
  • Also at Magic Kingdom, dance the night away alongside favorite Disney characters during an out-of-this-world holiday show, “A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas” on the Rockettower Plaza Stage.
  • The fun continues for young partygoers and Disney Junior fans of all ages at Storybook Circus during the “Disney Junior Jingle Jam” as Disney Junior characters take part in a fun-filled dance celebration.
  • NEW! In honor of the 50th Anniversary celebration, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party attendees will discover three jolly new photo opportunities. Guests will also receive a special 50th Anniversary commemorative keepsake, themed for the holidays.

Tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are limited and may be purchased online beginning July 7, 2022. Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can begin purchasing tickets as early as June 30, 2022. Ticket prices will range from $149 – $199 per person. Event dates are:

  • November: 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 27, 29

Our Thoughts

That was a lot of info on the event, so now I will offer you some thoughts and pictures from one of our visits to MVMCP. First off the price sort of shocked us, it is cheaper than we thought it would be. With an AP you can even save 10 dollars off the ticket price. My guess is Disney is going to sell more of these tickets than we would like them to, but that is just a guess on my part. I am not complaining by any stretch of the imagination, and welcome a cheaper than I thought price.

The return of holiday overlays

This is nice to see as last year we only got Jingle Cruise. Cosmic Ray’s is one of our favorite spots to chill at, so I can’t wait to see what goes on there. If you want to read up on our thoughts around Cosmic Ray’s you can find that here Date Night With Sonny Eclipse. Minnie Mouse’s fireworks are one of our favorite things from the parties, so be sure to check it out! We often quote her lines from this firework show even in June HAHA, it really is a cute show.

They didn’t mention much about photo-ops except that they would have them. I am hoping they bring back the coveted seven dwarfs picture, and for selfish reasons Scrooge McDuck. We have never been able to get a picture with him.

When to go?

I know a lot of people will ask which dates are the best to go, and I always caution Friday nights if you can avoid them. However earlier in the party season Friday’s will be better than closer to Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Also in general, all earlier dates not close to holiday are going to be less crowded, and highly recommended. One of the worst days to go is the first night though as you will bump into us bloggers, and people who want to be “first”. Avoid the first night, and aim for a couple parties later. Also worth saying again anything around a major holiday will be crowded as well.

I suspect each and every one of these will sell out, but when is anyone’s guess. Typically we recommend grabbing your dates if you know when you want to go. Don’t chance waiting there will not be any discounted prices outside of an annual pass discount.

What to eat?

For the food options, last year not many restaurants were open, so that meant a lot of cookies and hot cocoa. Since Cosmic Rays is going to be open you at least have an option. We just wanted to mention that you may get hungry, and may be limited on what you can grab. Snickerdoodles, and popcorn can only carry you so far!

Conclusion on Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Goofy!

In General we can’t wait to attend MVMCP again this year, and think that they will be very popular. With that pick and choose your dates staying away from Friday nights and holidays, but even on the busier nights, you will still manage to have fun. How excited are you for the return of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?
