Space 220 is a restaurant that opened in EPCOT last year, and we have a chance to eat there a couple of times. This article will take you through our experiences with Space 220. Space 220 can be found to the right of Mission Space in the World Discovery section of EPCOT. Since it’s opening, scoring an advanced dining reservation (ADR) is one of the toughest to get.
We won’t make you wait until the end of the article to highly recommend this place, but I do hope you enjoy our trip to Space 220! One administrative item though before we dig in, Space 220 is a prix-fixe menu, and what that means is you have a set price, and you have to pick one option from each category. Also worth mentioning is that for lunch, you pick an appetizer, and entrée, whereas dinner makes you also pick a dessert, therefore adding more money for you to spend. Lunch is $55/person, and dinner is $79/person, however they take annual passholder discount. The difference between lunch and dinner is the dessert option being added. The Menu can be found here.
Leaving Earth for Space 220
Once you find your way to the check in area, you will head in to the waiting area. In here you will wait to board an elevator that will take you 220 miles above the Earth to the Centauri space station. You can find a video below of the accent!
Once you are up in the space station you are greeted with a hallway that has a cool rotating produce display. The biggest OMG moment is of course your first view of the Earth and outer space as you walk into the main dining area. Enjoy some photos of this below from our various trips, but trust me when I say you need to see it in real life to appreciate it!
The Food
Now all of the picture to this point are of the experience, but Space 220 is a restaurant after all. Let’s dig into the food itself, and let your tastebuds drool as Space 220 has a great menu. The following pictures are from different visits, but we wanted to get all of our items in here for you to digest, and enjoy!
First up appetizers, and we will start with the most boring item on the list, the Centauri Caesar Salad. There is nothing special here, and I shouldn’t have expected anything spectacular from a Caesar salad. I will also gripe about restaurants that present you with an un-chopped salad. Really I spent 79 dollars to chop my own lettuce? As you can see below it doesn’t look amazing, but the taste was fine for a normal Caesar salad.
Next up on the appetizers is Big Bang Burrata. This is a very good dish, and highly recommended! Look at that beautiful piece of mozzarella in the picture! Accompanying it is Grilled Artichoke Hearts, Arugula, Sunflower Seed Romesco. This dish is one we got both times we visited Space 220.
One more appetizer we have tried at Space 220 is the Starry Calamari. This dish was decent for calamari, but nothing to write home about. It has a bit of heat to it with the spicy marinera. We liked this one better than the Caesar salad that I had to chop myself!
What would appetizers be without cocktails, and you can bet that Space 220 has plenty of those to choose from. Also worth noting is some of the drinks come with trading cards which is a nice little add on. Ask your server which ones come with these.
Main Courses at Space 220
Time to enjoy the main courses of Space 220. First up is the 8oz Filet Mignon, and I ordered this one both times as it was very good. I order my steaks medium rare, and they nailed it both times on the cook. Cutting into the steak it was so tender and juicy, and the taste was on point with any other high end steak house you can get around Central Florida. I included both orders of the steak as one of them is keto style per my request. That is minus the potatoes.
Also I ordered the shrimp which was a 15 dollar add on, and to me nothing memorable. From the menu, 8oz Filet Mignon Creamy Mash Potatoes, Haricot Vert, Carrots, Red Wine Reduction.
Next up on the main course is the Florida Red Snapper. This dish was a huge miss for both of us. The actual fish in this dish was ok, but the sweet sauce going on didn’t really match the dish in our opinion. The description from the menu is as follows, Pan Seared Red Snapper, Fennel Barigoule, Potato Stew.
Next up is the Galactic Salmon, and this one is very tasty. The mushrooms in this dish work really well with the salmon, and the salmon itself was very yummy! The description of this dish is as follows, Glazed Carrots, Maitake Mushrooms, Baby Bok Choy, Ginger Beurre Blanc.
Space 220 Desserts
What meal would be complete without desserts, however we will showcase only two desserts as one of the desserts we got in September 2021 is currently off the menu. Our favorite dessert is the carrot cake which is vegan, but before you pass on it because it is vegan, trust me it is phenomenal! From the menu, Carrot Cake, Cream Cheese, Candied Walnuts, Toasted Pepitas. Our server mentioned how people are turned off by this dessert due to the fact it is vegan, so again I will say do yourself a favor and order this. It is so delicious, and all plant based!
Our final dessert is the Chocolate Cheesecake. This is another solid option, but not as memorable as the carrot cake. It is a lot of chocolate to take in, but it is tasty in it’s own right. The addition of the obnoxious “chocolate shards” are probably not needed but it makes for a great photo.
Conclusion on Space 220
We highly recommend Space 220 to anyone who can score the ADR, but we do want to mention that our second trip was a bit diminished versus our first visit. It is still a great restaurant with a top notch theme, but you can tell they have scaled back a couple of places. Don’t let this deter you as Space 220 is a very unique restaurant, and like no where else you have eaten before.
As we leave Space 220, and head back to Earth what are your thoughts on what you have seen? Will you be trying to get a reservation for this unique restaurant? Let us know in the comments! If you liked this article perhaps you would like to read about another great restaurant Sanaa.
