When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still. That is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight!
Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion, and our Friday the 13th coverage! I am your host, your ghost host. Kindly read all the way to the end please. There’s no turning back now.
Our tour begins in the Magic Kingdom in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state. Anyone who has been on this iconic attraction knows these portraits well.
For Friday the 13th, we thought it would be fun to explore some of the more creepy attractions at Walt Disney World. We are starting with The Haunted Mansion, and will later check in with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Continuing our commentary on The Haunted Mansion, this attraction is one of the most complete attractions you can experience in a theme park. From the approach of the attraction, the queue, the ride portion, and exiting. Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) really hits on all cylinders with The Haunted Mansion.
The Haunted Mansion keeps you in a certain state of mind, and leaves you there throughout the whole experience. WDI does a brilliant balancing act keeping this ride family friendly, but also turning up the heat on being a little scary. I myself wasn’t a fan of this attraction when I was young, on the other hand I still was intrigued enough to go on it.
There’s a little matter I forgot to mention, beware of hitchhiking ghosts! They have selected you to fill our quota, and they’ll haunt you until you return!
The Haunted Mansion is a can’t miss experience, and once you get off of it, you often can’t wait to “hurry back”!
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Meanwhile in Hollywood 1939, amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling young movie town at the height of its golden age, The Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right. A beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.
Like The Haunted Mansion above, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was brought to life by WDI, and plays on the border of scary, and a family attraction. Also is very appropriate to explore on Friday the 13th!
Upon approaching the attraction, you can’t help but be intrigued with what is going on inside. The vacant grounds, and very aged lobby set the tone for the hotel you are about to check into. Like the The Haunted Mansion, the Tower of Terror really brings you a full attraction and story. The queue, the ride portion, and even leaving the attraction work so well together. WDI did another legendary job on scaring people in a family friendly way.
We suggest that you drop by and check into this experience next time you are in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Just remember this, the next time you check into a deserted hotel on the dark side of Hollywood, make sure you know just what kind of vacancy you’re filling, or you may find yourself a permanent resident. . . of The Twilight Zone.
Conclusion on Friday the 13th
Well I hope you had fun on our little tribute to Friday the 13th. A lot of times, this holiday gets attributed to Jason Vorhees who can be found at Halloween Horror Nights on select years. He is a bit too rough for Disney, but as we displayed here, Disney plays on the edge sometimes. We hope you have a spooktacular Friday the 13th!
